All the risks below are possibilities of the listed activity. They are listed in no particular order. Please do not consider it to be exhaustive or use it as your sole determining factor when it comes to your safety. Some risk possibilities must nearly always be considered; a few of these can be found here. Additionally, please note that the list below does not account for acts of intentional malice or for every complicating medical condition.

Possible mitigation strategies or more information sometimes appear under risks when given. These should not be considered solutions that bring a risk to 0%, nor should they be considered the only possible solutions or information. Likewise, lack of a mitigation strategy or research being listed does not mean none exists.

Changes to shape/texture from repeated impact or permanent marks may carry greater risk of body dysphoria

Breasts

Very vascular--likely to bruise, easily develops hematomas

Severe bruising, even after healing, can create internal artifacts on exams, requiring mammograms and follow-up for some

Sensitivity changing due to menstrual cycles

Nipple blebs (blocked ducts)

Mastitis

Fat necrosis from trauma (impact) or oxygen deprivation (due to bondage)

Higher fat makeup means breast tissue has a more difficult recovery, and can more easily suffer necrosis. Studies on breast reductions show that those with more tissue have more of a tendency to form fat necrosis

Lumps caused by the above which cannot be distinguished from cancerous lumps without biopsy

Yellow or brownish nipple drainage caused from the above

Ruptured implant

Loss of sensation to nipples, temporary or permanent

Possible cancer risk

Breasts hold a large amount of endocrine tissue, which carries lymphatic fluid. Some believe repeated impact may heighten risk of breast cancer, though this is controversial.
