All the risks below are possibilities of the listed activity. They are listed in no particular order. Please do not consider it to be exhaustive or use it as your sole determining factor when it comes to your safety. Some risk possibilities must nearly always be considered; a few of these can be found here. Additionally, please note that the list below does not account for acts of intentional malice or for every complicating medical condition.

Possible mitigation strategies or more information sometimes appear under risks when given. These should not be considered solutions that bring a risk to 0%, nor should they be considered the only possible solutions or information. Likewise, lack of a mitigation strategy or research being listed does not mean none exists.

Watersports

Please note: urine is not sterile, not even your own. This is a common misconception.

Ingestion of metabolic by-products of some drugs, both medicinal and recreational

Consider effects on contraception and interactions with other meds; possible consequences if ingester will be drug tested

Picking up infections if it passes over open wounds etc on the way

Passing on of any other infection that can be passed via bodily fluid

Dehydration over time (the idea that one can survive on one’s own urine alone is an urban myth)

Kidney infections and other filtration-related issues

Urinating into a vagina may negatively affect its pH level

Urinating into an anus may contain significantly higher risk of fluid bonding than external play

Change of habits for tops -- the bladder is very susceptible to patterns, psychologically, and urinating more in certain situations may cause some to only be able to do so in those circumstances

Bladder Control

Increases UTI risk

Could lead to kidney infections or other problems

Other complications:

one person says, "I likely developed a (so far) incurable, lifelong bladder condition from bladder control. Same symptoms of a UTI & more, but no infection or treatment options. I would caution against intense/extended bladder control because it can cause damage to the sensitive tissues and muscles in/around the bladder"
